About the Company:Chasestead Ltd is a Letchworth based company specialising in Prototypes & Low Volume Production Sheet Metal Pressings, Stampings and Fabrication to the Highest Quality, working in many different sectors (automotive, aerospace, defense, Formula 1 and the film industry). Some of our world famous customers include Ford Motors, Lockheed Martin, Warner brothers and McLaren.You will be joining a team who pride themselves on providing excellent customer service, a fast response to the resolution of queries and supplying parts within very short lead times.Role:
- Chasestead are market leaders and currently have an opening for a Press Tool Design engineer to join their expanding CAD team. This will involve taking customers component designs and from these you will produce various press tools for manufacture.
- Utilise CAD software to generate and model press stamping tools.
- Utilise industry leading finite element analysis packages to accurately simulate and predict pressing behaviour.
- Engage with suppliers to source competitive prices for tooling materials.
- Supply and liaise with the press team to convey the stamping process and press data that is required to complete the manufacturing process in parallel to simulation.
- Proven experience with computer aided design and surface modelling software. Ideally with experience with Autodesk Powershape or Fusion 360.
- Basic understanding of finite element analysis.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and propose practical solutions.Systematic and uniform approach to complete tasks in timely manner.
- Experience in a similar environment.
- Adequate knowledge to undertake job role with potential to develop further through on job and vocational training.
- Continuous improvement and cost saving expertise on manufactured parts and processes would be an advantage.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally, both internally within the business and externally with customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to read and interrogate detailed 2d engineering drawings and 3d CAD models
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- 25 days paid leave plus statutory holidays per year.
- 5 hour working week (Monday to Friday)
- Training on Autodesk Powershape CAD Software.
- Training on Autoform Simulation software.
- Up to £21 /hr depending on experience.
- Regular overtime (paid at time and a half)
